Career Start funding
The Career Start funding supports eligible individuals to complete their first post-school certificate III level qualification and increase their skills to move into employment, re-enter the workforce or advance their career. It also supports Queensland’s Year 12 graduates to transition to employment by providing fee-free training in high priority qualifications.
Students can only access the Career Start funding subsidy once, it is important students choose the right course for you to take full advantage of this opportunity.
Are you Eligible?
Career Start funding eligibility criteria is as follows:
- be aged 15 or older;
- be no longer at school (with the exception of school students in Years 10, 11 and 12 undertaking a VET in School (VETiS) program — see the VETiS fact sheet for more information);
- permanently reside in Queensland;
- be an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident (includes humanitarian entrant), temporary resident with the necessary visa and work permits on the pathway to permanent residency, or a New Zealand citizen (for more information see Visa eligibility under VET investment programs);
- not hold a certificate III or higher-level qualification, not including qualifications completed at school and foundation skills training; and
- not be enrolled in another qualification, not including foundation skills training.
